My Books

I have sold 21 novels since becoming a "writer" in 1990. You can find most of them available on Amazon.com. Thanks to readers and critics alike many have very positive reviews. From "Booklist", I received this review," Brooks is rapidly carving out a niche for himself as the poet laureate of iconic American outlaws with stylized historical novels about Billy the Kid (The Stone Garden, 2001), Pretty Boy Floyd (Pretty Boy, BKL My 15 03), and now Bonnie and Clyde.

About Me

I began my professional writing career after 16 years as a healthcare professional following a lifetime of an assortment of jobs.  When I finally decided to write a novel I was very lucky in having it published by the 2nd publisher I sent it to.  This was in 1992 and I’ve published another 20 novels since then.  I had three novels released in 2007.

In addition to my writing I also teach the craft.  I’ve taught workshops all across the country including the famed Chautauqua Institute in New York.  I created and ran the Blue Ridge Writers Program here in Asheville for four years.  I enjoy doing the workshops and lectures as an escape from the isolation of writing.

Helping aspiring writers reach their goal of being published is always a positive for me.  And now I’ve extended the workshops and classes into taking on a select number of individual writers to working with in what I call Creative Editing – a process where I work in concert with the individual until their book is ready to be sent to an agent or editor.

Every writer’s situation is unique and that is the approach I take in tailoring my assistance.  If you’d like to know more and see if I can help you, please contact me.
